The Most Persuasive Sentence in History?

I produce a LOT of content for my business and many have been asking if there’s a system for how I come up with fresh ideas…

The answer is YES.

There’s rarely a day where I sit down, write an email, and send it out.

There’s always a method to “the madness” and today you’re going to learn one of those methods. :)

I’m going to give you one simple sentence that you can keep in your back pocket to consistently pump out high-converting content that persuades people to buy WHATEVER you’re selling.

I use this sentence for Facebook Posts, YouTube Ads, Emails, wherever you’re writing copy or coming up with ideas for videos - THIS is going to help.

Now, why is this important?

Maybe you’re not all over social media and you’re focusing simply on writing one email a day to your readers.

Still, over the course of a year that’s 365 emails…

And over 5 years that’s 1,825!

So it’s important to have a system for regularly producing valuable, persuasive content that causes your readers to take action!

And I’ve written thousands of emails, posts, and ads by remembering this one sentence.

So - what’s the sentence?

I’m glad you asked. :)

The sentence was written by legendary marketer, Blair Warren, and goes like this:

"People are persuaded by those who will:

  1. Encourage their dreams,
  2. Justify their failures,
  3. Allay their fears,
  4. Confirm their suspicions, and
  5. Help them throw rocks at their enemies."

Got it?

Awesome. If you create content around these 5 topics you’ll be far better off then sitting at your computer, winging it.

Let’s walk through them a bit slower and show how they apply to marketing your offer.

#1: People are persuaded by those who encourage their dreams

The lesson here is, you MUST know your customer.

Sure, you’re promoting your offer, but to who?

-Those getting ready for retirement seeking financial stability?

-Young entrepreneurs looking for an alternative to college?

-Someone who wants to travel the world while working from home?

You can promote offers to anyone in the above categories, but each category has different dreams, different desires.

It’s important to know what YOUR customer’s dreams are and write content around THAT.

#2: People are persuaded by those who justify their failures

Your readers need to know that their past “failures” may not have been their fault!

Maybe they’ve received wrong info or were sold a bill of goods that didn’t set them up for success. Telling folks why they may not have succeeded in the past lets them know you understand where they’re coming from.

#3: People are persuaded by those who allay their fears

What keeps your customer up at night? What are they most afraid of? These are questions marketers have asked for years to get at the heart of what will motivate someone to buy.

#4: People are persuaded by those who confirm their suspicions

This is a big one and I’ve used it in a recent ad about Amazon FBA.

But the key with such an ad is not that I'm teaching people anything new...

Many of my customers were already suspicious of Amazon FBA and the wild claims it’s proponents make.

I just shed light on those concerns and confirm my customers suspicions.

#5: People are persuaded by those who throw rocks at their enemies

Now, I certainly don't like throwing anyone under the bus, naming names, or even implying that anyone is an enemy.

That’s just not how we should do things.

BUT, I will certainly throw rocks at IDEAS of things which frustrate me, bring me down, or provide poor information for my readers and customers.

Now, these 5 persuasion tactics are powerful.

I hope you see that and I hope you use them REGULARLY.

But, my only request is that you use them with honesty and integrity.

If the claims you’re making are factual, and the stories you tell are true…

(Which is EASY when you’re promoting a great product!)

Then you’ll be rewarded with an insanely effective system for regularly writing high-converting emails and other pieces of content - FAST.

Enjoy!

To Your Success!
