Make Money on the Internet Using Affiliate Marketing

By: Darin Kleb

For many website owners who do not have a product or service of their own to sell, it can be hard to make money online. Sure, you could sell advertising space, but unless you attract a large amount of traffic to your site, nobody will pay you a pretty penny to have you advertise their site. So, you dont have any product or service to sell and advertising wont bring in an income worth celebrating over. What do you do now? The solution is simple: Affiliate Marketing.

Affiliate marketing is a simple concept and millions of websites rely on affiliate marketing to bring in the bulk of their sales. Basically, you try and sell other people's products for a commission. Commission can be anywhere from 5 to 75 percent of the price of the product. Generally speaking, your software, information products, and services provide the highest rate of commission. It's easy finding products in those categories that provide 50 to 75 percent commission!

The most effective way to convert your traffic to sales is to make sure that the products and services you are advertising on your website target your visitors. If your site deals with automobiles, trying to market someone else's cook book will fail and if I could take a bet, generate zero income.

Another helpful tip is to make sure your advertisement doesn't look like an advertisement. People do not visit your site to pay any attention to the banner ads placed everywhere. They visit your site for information on what you provide. If your site deals with online dating, write several reviews on different online dating services out there on the Internet with links to the services.

So exactly how does this work? How do these people know that you are the one responsible for the sales lead and not somebody else? When you sign up as an affiliate for different products and services, you are given a special link to place on your website. When one of your visitors clicks your link, the website you are refering visitors to knows that the visitor came from your site. Then, if the visitor purchases that website's product or service, you are credited for the sale and earn the commission.

When looking for a product to market as an affiliate, visit some websites selling products or services that relate to your website's information. Many of these sites will have affiliate programs and have a link placed on their site with information on how you can sign up to be an affiliate with them.

Affiliate marketing along with selling advertising on your website (check out Google Adsense) is an amazing and very profitable way of generating income for your site. It cost nothing and there is no inventory to keep. It's all pure profit. What could be better?

How to Succeed as an Affiliate on the Net

By: Harvey Segal

When a company has a product or a service that they wish to sell they will often enlist 'affiliates' to do the job of finding customers for them.

You may know an affiliate by another name, for example: agent, reseller, associate, communicator.

Once the affiliate has managed to get the customer to make an order his job ends. The whole process of handling the order, the collection of payment, the shipping of goods, is done by the company (or distributor).

Who benefits?
This is a tremendous arrangement for both sides.

The distributor simply waits for orders to arrive and has no involvement in the marketing phase. The affiliate simply gets a customer, for example, to visit a web site and takes no further part.

Commission is paid to the affiliate on the value of orders made.

It is the power of the Internet with the possibility of cheap or free advertising for a vast audience which makes reselling such an outstanding business opportunity.

And if you have your own website, where you have the luxury of posting your own ads for free, then you have an effortless income-producing system.

Two things which make reselling even more exciting
If the product can earn you residual income, for example a monthly commission all the while that the customer continues to renew it. If you can recruit your own affiliates and collect commission either for each affiliate or for the products that they sell.

What should you look out for?
Here are some rules for checking out affiliate opportunities:

#1 The company

First, there would be no point in generating massive commission on 'paper' only to find that the company are unreliable, don't pay up on time, or eventually fold.

Test out the company first.

Make an inquiry as if you were a potential customer. Study the quality of their reply and of their literature or website.

How quickly do they respond? If their customer service is poor this does not give much hope for the way they will handle their affiliates.

Are they an ethical company, what guarantees do they provide for refunds ?

#2 The product

Is the product an item which is in good demand?

What is the rate of commission?

These two factors will determine your potential earnings.

As a guide commission should range from 25 to 50%.

#3 Assistance with promotion
Does the company provide advertising material for their affiliates?

In particular do they provide a personalised web site?

#4 The cost
What is the cost of becoming an affiliate ?

This can vary from completely free paying an initial one off payment paying a monthly subscription.

You don't have to be deterred by affiliate opportunities where payment is involved. These may offer greater benefits such as advanced promotion techniques and commission which will quickly outweigh the payments.

For example $30 per month may seem a high figure but if you regard it as one dollar a day to have the company's products displayed 24 hours a day to the whole world on your own personalised web site it could be viewed as the bargain of the century.

Can anyone become an affiliate?
Affiliate opportunities are ideal for both experienced online marketeers and for newcomers to the Internet. Here's why:

#1 Experienced online marketeers

If you have an established web site the minimum that you need to do is post an ad on your own site.

And there's no need to stop at one product.

Providing that you don't overload your web site with ads you could have many - and you can monitor how they perform so that you can judge which ones to give prominence to.

#2 Newcomers

One of the first and most important skills you will need to use for any online business is how to place adverts.

Here are some of the things that you start to learn when you submit ads:

The various locations where you can place an ad such as newsgroups, forums, ezines, web sites: and the different rules and methods used for each one such as frequency of posting and size of ads.
How to post information to a mailing list or newsgroup for free but using a signature file to promote your products.
How to code your adverts so that you can identify where the response originates.
How to organise your mail files to handle responses.
How to simplify your own systems so that you have standard replies to common questions.
How to set up autoresponders if necessary to take away the chore of responding manually.
How to deal with the unexpected (for example, even though you may clearly spell out in your ad that a reply should be made to an autoresponder many people will still reply directly to you).
By taking on an affiliate operation you have an ideal opportunity to practise these methods. This will provide the experience for whatever online venture you plan as well as an excellent source of additional income.

Creating Video Software Tutorials - High Value Products You Can Easily Sell

By: James Simpson

What software programs do you use on a regular basis? What tricks do you know that make your life using the software far easier, and speed up your production because of it?

If you know secrets about the software you use, then you need to make software tutorials detailing what you do and how you do it. You can then sell these tutorials for a small fee, aiming to get many hundreds of buyers looking to make their time more productive.

So what do you need to record your tutorials? Start off with Camtasia Studio from Techsmith. It's an outstanding software application that lets you record your desktop activity, i.e. the actions you're making in the software you're using.

This means you can record every action, every keystroke you make whilst using your software - and add voice commentary to it at the same time - to create high-value software tutorials people will be happy to pay for.

The voiceover will need a decent microphone, ideally USB. I've found that the Plantronics DSP-500 headset works best - it produces outstanding audio at a low price. Also, Camtasia Studio will instantly recognise the microphone, so you won't have to spend hours trying to configure it.

Believe it or not, that's all you'll need. Using just these 2 items will allow you to create high-value software tutorials that show others the tips and tricks you know.

And don't think for a second that others won't pay for your tutorials. If you're showing them a way to save time, increase their productivity and improve their overall knowledge of the software in question, then without a doubt people will pay money for your information.

Also, video tutorials have a huge advantage over books in that many, many people prefer to learn visually. Their attention span is short when reading and they can find it difficult to grasp the concept of turning what they read into actions with the software they're learning.

By seeing what's going on directly in the application, they can simply replicate the process without having to refer to a load of text and a dozen screen shots.

So, if you specialize in a software application and you can teach others how to use it effectively, then you need to seriously consider this. And to top it off, if the software in questions also has an affiliate program, you can quickly produce additional income from your tutorials by offering a special discount on your product if the software is bought via your affiliate link.

Affiliate Marketing For Beginners (EXPLAINED IN PLAIN ENGLISH!)

Choosing an Affiliate Program

By: Kevin Sinclair

What should you consider when choosing an affiliate program? You need to think about two key things: what business are you in and what can the affiliate program provide to your customers.

No matter what business you are in, the largest investment you make will be customer acquisition. If you have your own product, and have acquired a base of satisfied customers, then single product affiliate programs could work very well for you.

However, if your business is acquiring customers for other businesses, that is, purely affiliate programs, then a better choice for you could be affiliate programs with multiple products or services. This will help you to capitalise on your investment in customer acquisition.

The key to choosing successfully is to ensure that the affiliate program offers products that meet the needs of your potential customers. Coupled with this is the need for the products to be high quality and for the supplier to provide excellent customer service. Remember, your credibility is on the line every time you refer someone to buy through your affiliate relationship.

Some of the other factors I consider when evaluating affiliate programs include:

  • Is the affiliate program a reputable business? You can check out a business you are considering a relationship with in variety of ways. Talk to the Better Business Bureau in your local area or a similar body. In addition, I find web sites that monitor affiliate programs to be worth looking at. The best I have found is Associate Programs www.AssociatePrograms.com. Allan Gardyne pulls no punches and tells it as it is.

  • Does the program enable you to share in the lifetime value of the customer? Great programs will give you commissions on all future purchases of the customers you introduce. This is where the real profits are. These types of programs, in effect, allow you to partner with the supplier.

  • Does the program reward you for introducing other affiliates? This type of program is commonly referred to as a two-tier program. Often your customer may become an affiliate also and you will be rewarded for this.

  • Is the supplier interested in your success as an affiliate? The top affiliate programs engage in a process of coaching or information sharing to help you succeed. Affiliates are provided with regular newsletters outlining what is working for successful affiliates and providing updates and details on new products.

  • Is the commission reasonable? Commission rates on commodity products such as books and CDs are low. This is because there is very little margin in the products due to competition. Look for products that have a commission rate of 15% or more that are not commodities - that way you will be better able to recoup your customer acquisition investment.

  • Are statistics provided? The higher the level of statistics provided, the better off you are. This will enable you to measure the success of your marketing efforts and to determine the best places to invest your marketing dollars. Insufficient statistics is a sign that the affiliate program is not sufficiently interested in your success.

  • Are new products being developed regularly? To get the full value from lifetime commissions, new products need to be introduced on a regular basis. Without this, lifetime commissions can be worthless. Also, look for consistent high quality in new products introduced.

  • How frequently are commissions paid? The more frequently commissions are paid, the better off you are. Good quality affiliate programs will pay you monthly. In some situations, commissions are not paid until a certain level is reached. If the program you are considering has this requirement, check how many sales need to be made before the level is reached.

  • Have you read the affiliate agreement? This is a key area that you should look at. Some affiliate agreements are totally in favour of the supplier. Others are more balanced. Some agreements restrict your ability to promote similar products from other suppliers. Most agreements have anti-spam provisions. Look for agreements that are fair and that do not stack everything against you as the affiliate.

While there are other factors that can be considered when choosing an affiliate program, following the suggestions above will help you to make superior business choices that will lead to long-term success.

Clickbank Super Affiliates Toolbox

By: Codrut Turcanu
Listen up: Clickbank is the hottest opportunity to make large amounts of affiliate sales, quickly and easily... if you know how to use it wisely.

HINT: As every mechanic can tell you, in order to be a good workman, one should have good tools. In order to be a Clickbank super affiliate, the very best affiliate one can be, it is important to have the proper supplies in ones virtual toolbox. Taking time to gather the best supplies can pay off in the end in big dividends, literally. A good merchant will do his or her best to supply their affiliates with the best tools possible and a good affiliate will do the best that they can to gather the best tools available.
A tool such as the clickbank calculator found at www.clickbankguide.com/calculator.htm will help you to immediately be able to ascertain exactly what your commission will be on a product. This is further enhanced by the table with the common prices which will help you to see exactly how this sort of thing works and be able to make your own table, using the prices and rates with which you will be dealing with.

An affiliate will want to have a good selection of templates.

This will enable you to make and send out advertising information without having to start at the very beginning each time.

A good merchandiser will supply his or her affiliates with the best tools available. Giving them the best tools will help them to do a better job for the merchandiser as well as for themselves. If an affiliate has a good supply of articles and information concerning the product, this will enable them to write their own articles and email letters and newsletters and to have the proper information right at their finger tips.

Another tool in the super affiliate's toolbox is a good group email tool. Being able to send out emails to large groups of people who have shown an interest in the product is advantageous and will save time. It is important not to misuse this sort of a tool so that what is sent out becomes spam, then nothing will be appreciated coming from that source and is apt to be immediately deleted without even being glanced at, thereby defeating ones purpose, but used properly, this can be a very good tool to have.

Another tool is a contact list of people who have been interested in becoming affiliates. Sometimes one finds that there are those who are anxious to enter into the cyber work field and might become the affiliate's competition. Instead, the affiliate might want to consider approaching them with the idea of their joining into his team so that as they are making money he is also. When this is done, it is important that teamwork be emphasized. Team members don't work against each other; they work together for mutual benefit.

TIP: A good supply of keywords is important also. You will want to attract people to your website that might possibly buy the product. Those people will be using certain keywords as they take advantage of search engines so it's important that in articles which you write, you will want to include a number of keywords which the potential customer might well be using.

A very useful *free* resource can be found here: www.goodkeywords.com

In order to be a Clickbank super affiliate, you will want to have the best equip toolbox possible. Taking the time to assemble such a tool box is important and is the sort of thing that makes the difference between an affiliate and a super affiliate.

The proper tools are as important for an affiliate as they are for a good mechanic, take time to assemble the right ones and a super tool box may soon make you a Clickbank super affiliate.

What I Wish I Knew When Starting Affiliate Marketing Beginner Advice

Ebook Review: AdSense Confessions, How to Earn Google AdSense Income

By: Robin Henry
When you load a site into your browser and see small advertisement blocks here and there with "Ads by Google" appearing nearby, you probably know that when you click on them, someone receives a credit for payment under Google's AdSense program. AdSense is a pay-per-click (PPC) scheme that benefits marketers, buyers and the webmasters who display advertisements on their sites. By bringing together a buyer looking for specific products or services (by entering a term or terms in a search engine), sellers of those products and services and encouraging webmasters to provide the medium by which this happens (their sites), everyone in the equation benefits. It's a truly win-win situation and a brilliant concept.

Because I use AdSense advertisements on my site, but have not yet optimised my income from them, I have been researching ways to do so. I knew that some people were making quite reasonable supplementary incomes from Google AdSense and that it has the potential to add more significantly to my income if I could find out how it's done. Like everyone else, I want a bigger share of the pie.

During my research I found Codrut Turcann's ebook, "AdSense Confessions" which promises to tell you ... How 9 Average People, Not Gurus, Cracked The Code To AdSense Income Boosting And How You Can Copy Their Money-Making Tactics! Plus... Discover How You Can Quickly Catapult Your AdSense Earnings By 450% Or More Using A Powerful, No-Fail Marketing Arsenal.

What's in this ebook?

"AdSense Confessions" consists of 101 pages detailing the success stories of nine people who have, to varying degrees, mastered AdSense sufficiently to earn regular incomes. Each from a different perspective tells his or her story about how they came to AdSense, tested, retested and eventually mastered AdSense to realise a greater income. One or two are still working on improvements to the AdSense aspects of their businesses to earn even greaterlevels of income.

As everyone knows, duplicating the models successfully used by others is a shortcut to success ... medical practitioners use it daily, so do marketers. There is every reason to believe that if you follow the proven methods used by the nine people whose stories are told in this ebook, you will have a similar degree of success. Interestingly, the nine contributors do not only discuss AdSense, they also discuss matters such as search engine optimization, keywords, web design, link management etc, all of which is good advice and makes this ebook even more useful. Evidence of earnings is provided as are numbers of examples of sites with AdSense adverts showing successful placement of AdSense ads.

Although most of the content confirms what I already know, for someone new to Internet marketing, web design or using Google AdSense, Codrut's ebook will save them a lot of time and effort in getting to the income earning stage.

Is it value for money?

The price for "AdSense Secrets" is $69.97 USD and it is downloaded almost immediately. Included in that price are the following bonuses:

Ebook, "101 Quick Tips to Increase AdSense Income in 30 Days"
FREE Profit-Pulling AdSense Site Critique and One-On-One Support By E-mail - Anytime You Need Help or Have An AdSense-Related Problem!
"AdSense Profit Shortcuts" - Monthly eLetter
A mystery bonus (value not known)

Value for money is a personal thing depending on so many variables that I can't answer that question for you. What I can say is that I find $69.97 quite a steep price (especially given the Australian exchange rate which knocks me about). However, if you can use the bonuses, especially bonus two of a free AdSense critique, it could represent value for money. The free critique and one-on-one support could be worth thousands ... if you make sure you use it.

Also, there are numbers of links within the text that lead to free utility programs etc that add value to your purchase.

And the Negatives?

In my opinion the only negatives are that the ebook isn't as professionally presented as it could be (given the price) and that the downloading process is convoluted. Having said that, if you are looking for content and don't care if the format and layout is ordinary, then presentation of the ebook won't matter. As for the downloading, it involves completing a subscription box and sending an email from a post-payment page to retrieve a link to another page from which the downloads can be made. But before the final download step, one has to confirm the email details. All of this could be prevented if the download page presented immediately after purchase.

Conclusion

If you want to learn how to establish or increase an AdSense PPC stream of income, this book certainly delivers the goods and will give you a good start.

There are dozens of things you can do today to generate income almost immediately. Add to that the bonuses, especially the one-on-one support and you will be well on your way to joining those of us who earn income from AdSense for doing nothing but placing links on our sites.

I've already begun to improve some of my AdSense strategies and will be monitoring income increase throughout the next three months at which time I'll write an article detailing my findings. Watch this space!

Creating Wealth with Affiliate Programs: Getting Rich with No Money Down

By: Sean Gum

The question I am asked the most is, "How can I create additional income streams if I don't have any money to get started?" This article is going to teach you exactly that - how to create additional income streams using the Internet - without requiring any money to get started...

If you search for Work-at-Home or Make Money Online, you will have literally millions of websites to visit that promise you the next best way to get rich... for a fee...

You can spend hundreds of dollars researching all of the business opportunities on the Internet. But more times than not, the money you spend only supplies information on everything else you need to buy to get started.

Well have no fear! I am going to show you some of the secrets I use to creating income streams with no money down!

I realize that a lot of you are living paycheck to paycheck. Everything coming in, quickly goes right back out. My intention of writing this article is to help you break out of this cycle with Affiliate Programs.

What are Affiliate Programs?
Affiliate Programs are used to promote a product or service through a cost-per-action advertising model. Simply put, website owners will pay you a commission for every person you send to their website that either buys their product or service, or perform some other type of action such as filling out a survey...

Amazon.com built a huge following by utilizing Affiliate Programs. A website owner simply put a unique link on their website that Amazon.com provided them. Every time someone clicked on their unique link and ordered a book, the website owner would be paid a commission - usually a percentage of sales.

Banner ads or text ads are used to drive the traffic to the affiliate website. For example, one website might say "Click here to order Sean's Latest Book." When someone clicks on the link, it will go to exactly where they can order the book at Amazon.com.

High traffic websites benefit greatly by this business model since they can drive a lot of people to the affiliate websites which results in a lot of commissions being earned.

But what if I don't have a website?!
I know, you don't have a website, right? Or maybe you do, but you don't get a lot of traffic? I have good news...

BLOGS = FREE TRAFFIC
Over the last couple years, a new type of website has come onto the scene. They are called BLOGS. A blog is like a personal diary of articles that you post that people can read and comment on.

A couple examples:
http://fortunedreams.blogspot.com
http://ulosefast.blogspot.com

You can use a BLOG to drive visitors to affiliate links without having to have a website. If you look at the fortunedreams blog above, you will notice that at the end of every article is a link that says "Click here for FREE Information on Working at Home-FortuneDreams.com"

If you click on that link, it will go to an affiliate link which redirects you to a free survey to fill out.

For every person that completes that free survey, I get paid $2.25. Not too bad, eh?

So How Do I Do It?
Step 1: Open a free affiliate account. Go to www.magmoney.com and join the affiliate program there. This affiliate program will allow you to earn $2.25 for every free survey completed.

Step 2: Login to your affiliate account. At the top of the screen, you will see some TABS. Click on the tab that says "CREATE YOUR LINKS." Then click on the link that says "CLICK HERE To get banner and text link code to advertise our three different websites."

The first website listed will allow you to refer other people to join the MagMoney Affiliate Program. For every person that signs up through your link, you will get paid 75 cents for every person THEY get to complete a free survey. (You might not want to promote this one until later - when you have a friend that wants to do what you are doing... You can then get paid on their efforts!)

The second website listed will allow you to send traffic to a weight loss website. If you want to create a blog about weight loss, then you will want to use this for your affiliate link.

The third website listed will allow you to send traffic to a Work at Home website. If you want to create a blog about Working at Home, then you will want to use this for your affiliate link.

Step 3: Decide which website you want to promote from Step #2, and click on the CLICK HERE that is next to it to create your unique affiliate link.

Once you do that, you will get a list with your unique affiliate link along with about 10 banner ads. Disregard the banner ads since we will not be using them on the Blog.

Step 4: Write down the affiliate link that is listed under the heading "Basic Affiliate Url:".

If you are doing a weight loss blog, your link would look something like this:

www.mailorderwork.com/gl/g.o/USERNAME/http://www.ulosefast.com

(Except all on one line.)

Step 5: Go to Blogger.com and create a free Blog account.

Step 6: Go ahead and create your first blog, whether it is for Work at Home or Weight Loss.

Step 7: Post articles to your Blog with your affiliate link posted at the end of every article you post. (Refer back to http://fortunedreams.blogspot.com to get an idea of what to post.)

Do the same thing I did with the "Click here for FREE Information on Working at Home-FortuneDreams.com" But make sure you link it back to YOUR unique affiliate link that you wrote down from Step #4.

Where Do I Find Articles?
The easiest way would be to simply copy them from one of my blogs listed in the examples above. Or visit one of the free article websites such as www.SubmitYourArticle.com . There are literally thousands of articles for the taking. You will want to search for articles that fit the topic of the link you are promoting.

For example, if you are promoting the Work at Home link, you would want articles pertaining to Work at Home.

Step 8: Promote your Blog! There are hundreds of Blog Directories and RSS Directories that you can submit to that are free of charge. When you create a blog at www.Blogger.com, you also get a free RSS feed of your Blog. You simply add /atom.xml to the end of your Blog.

For example:
The blog http://fortunedreams.blogspot.com/ would be http://fortunedreams.blogspot.com/atom.xml as an RSS feed.

This allows you to submit it to all the RSS and Blog Directories that you can find...

Step 9: VERY IMPORTANT: After EVERY article that you post to your blog, go to www.pingomatic.com and submit your blog. Click on ALL the Services to Ping and then submit pings.

This tells many of the popular Blog directories that you have a new article posted. The more articles you post, the higher your ranking (and the more traffic they will send you!)

So be sure to do this after every article you post.

Step 10: Post new articles on your Blog several times a day. Try to post at least a dozen or more new articles on a daily basis to achieve the best results.

So there you have it! A completely, absolutely free way to start generating income with the Internet from the comfort of your own home...

Of course you can repeat the process over and over again creating as many blogs as you want. You can also use this method with any of the hundreds of other affiliate programs on the Internet.

Utilizing this method, you should be able to build up an extra income from several hundred dollars a month to several thousand - depending on how hard you work at it.

Now that you are earning a little bit of pocket money, put $250 aside for a special opportunity to turn it into hundreds of thousands of dollars with the ultimate leverage!

I'll tell you all about it in my next article about my favorite Business Model - Network Marketing...

Good luck and God bless!

The Past, Present, and Future of Affiliate Marketing

By: Marissa Ranello

The Good Old Days
Remember the good old days? You'd purchase a domain name, set up your site (with a few swear words here and there), and place some banner ads (while crossing your fingers for the best banner ad click-through results). This all worked great--for a while; until people managed to avoid our banner ads like the plague. Life got more complex. What were us internet marketers to do? We had to become more savvy. Fortunately for us, the affiliate model was introduced.

Ah, the affiliate marketing model. It never hurts to get a little help from your friends, right? Affiliate marketing networks offer a wide range of advantages to businesses. In short: it's a booming business with dollar signs all around it. Sure, affiliate marketing can be a profitable business, but it can also be very aggravating, time consuming, and antisocial. So here's the big question: Why the heck do we keep putting ourselves through all of this pain? The answer, although seemingly complex, is quite simple: easy money.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The average person thinks of affiliate marketing as a "get rich quick" scheme for geeks and nerds. Actually, it's the farthest thing from the truth. Nowadays, you're just as likely to find a High School dropout behind an affiliate marketing operation; as you are to find a computer science major.

Despite the revenue advantages, many successful affiliate managers are weary of transparent affiliates. After all, there's a lot of trickery out there. You have to be on the lookout for the 'Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.' That's right folk, if you're the good guy, beware of the bad and the ugly affiliates. They're out there right now placing infectious adware on an unsuspecting consumer's computer.

As a marketer, it's your responsibility to investigate your affiliates use of adware. Don't turn your head and look the other way. It's OUR consumers that may receive unwanted and/or destructive ads. Can you blame them for becoming angry at the marketer who (perhaps inadvertently) funds adware infections? Of course not. Destructive ads shouldn't even be considered a marketing strategy. It's completely unethical.

The New Guy
In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is a great starting point. If you experience success--run with the ball. Explore additional performance compensation structures. But before you even consider jumping into the game, you should ask yourself the following questions (to avoid business pitfalls):

1). Will affiliate marketing assist you in reaching all of your business targets?

2). Will affiliate marketing have advantages over other types of online marketing?

3). Do you have the time and commitment to run a developing affiliate operation (which will require time to flourish and succeed?

4). How flexible is your budget for affiliate marketing?

Here's some background information for the 'new guy': Time and commitment are essential to your success. While running a network of affiliates doesn't require a college degree, it does require your attention for details. Perhaps this is why merchants find outsourced providers offer a very appealing solution. In addition, the new guy should realize:

  • Not everyone will make five figures a month with affiliate marketing. There's a lot of marketers out there. You're the new guy, remember? Find some successful companies that use affiliate marketing. Research them. What did they do to become such a success? Can you duplicate that plan?

  • You're not going to make any money eating potato chips in front of the television. If it were that easy--I'd be doing that instead of writing this article on affiliate marketing. Be prepared to devote a lot of time to your business and your affiliate relations.

  • Don't take blind referrals from anyone! You'll discover the best affiliate opportunities through your own research.
The Future
In just the last few years, affiliate marketing has become a very powerful force on ecommerce. Every day thousands, if not millions, of merchants rely on affiliate marketing to drive their businesses. But is affiliate marketing all just a big hype? What ever happened to customer service? What strange times we live in; as the value of business is no longer placed on the customer, but on the relationship with whoever facilitated the connection.

This just goes to prove that affiliate marketing is only as good as the people who run it. Remember, there are ways to get your affiliate program noticed; just make sure that you get it noticed for the right reasons. How To Market Affiliate Programs With Your Newsletter

By: ReveNow.com

If you've been building an opt-in list, you are on the right track to making a living online. If you have yet to start building your list, you need to get started right away! A quality list is worth a lot of money, if you know how to use it. Notice the word 'quality'... .not 'quantity!' A list does not have to be huge to turn a profit. Again, if you have a quality list, you can turn out a quality newsletter, and then you can learn how to use your newsletter to promote your affiliate programs.

First you should note that the newsletter must be of high quality. Just sending your list advertisements will not cut it in today's competitive online market place. Your subscribers do not want advertisements - they can find those anywhere. What they want is quality up-to-date information. As a marketer, you produce that information, and build the information around one of your affiliate programs.

Start by choosing a product that you feel your highly qualified list will be interested in. Really think about this long and hard, and make sure that you pick a quality product or service. If you've used your newsletter in the right way up to this point, your subscribers will put a lot of faith in your recommendations - and you are about to make a recommendation.

With that product, write an article. The article should not be about the product - unless it is a review of the product. Instead, it should pertain to something that relates to the use of that product. For instance, if you are advertising a shampoo, you would probably want to write an article about hair care - not about the shampoo.

You can work the product into the article in various ways. For instance, if you are just promoting one product with your article, at the end of the article, you might suggest to your readers that using brand x - with your affiliate link - will help them achieve better results or that you've found that this brand is better than that brand, or something along those lines.

If you are promoting several products within one article, spread them about throughout the text, but make sure that your article doesn't become one big advertisement - and avoid promoting too many products within one article. Also avoid including more than one article in each issue of your newsletter. You want your visitors attention to remain focused - and if you give them information overload in one issue, your chances of making any sales at all diminish!

It is vital that you use a professional link cloaker. You do not want your affiliate link to look like an affiliate link! A link cloaker will change the text of your link, but when clicked, the linked cloak will take your reader to the site with the product that you are promoting - and you will get credit for the sale. Using a link cloaker also prevents link hijacking - where someone exchanges your affiliate ID with their own affiliate ID in the link.

Be personable with your readers. Become their friend. Let them know that you are looking out for them, and that you are interested in helping them achieve something. Developing a relationship with your readers is the key to getting them to trust your recommendations.

How to Use The Power of Affiliate Marketing

By: Tony Bryan

What is Affiliate Marketing? Will it lift your business to the next level? Or, is the Gold Rush over?

A wise man once said that the majority of people take their project to the point where it looks impossible and then give up. That is NOT the time to give up, because two more steps could see success!

You get up each morning - rush to your computer - you didn't make any sales! Did you realise what a vast marketplace you were setting up your stall in and unless you tell them you're open for business they won't come?

Your web site looked great (if you had one) but did you, like me in my early days, advertise it in FFAs, Free lists and safe lists? If you did, you now realise these lists only contain others who want to sell what they've got and are not the slightest bit interested in your offer! Don't fall for the "We'll put your ad in front of 2,000,000 people". So, what has all this got to do with the Power of Affiliate Marketing?

Are you creating your own Gold Rush? You've got a great product be it a hard product, a service or a digital product and you have a few visitors, and perhaps you're making a few bob a month. If you add five or six Affiliate products allied to your own, to your site, what have you got? CHOICE. The number of visitors goes up because you've got links back to your site, which means the Search Engines favour you more.

Affiliate Programmes must be in line with your own product, but you'll have a larger range to offer visitors. Imagine the 'wants' of those whom you are trying to interest - NOT the needs. People invariably buy what they want, not what they need.

Even if you haven't got a product of your own, or even a website, you'll make money with Affiliate Programmes. Solve people's problems and you're on to a winner.

Some of the highest paid net-workers don't have a website or a product of their own, but they make a whole stack of money by offering the products of well known companies to a receptive audience. They've created their own Gold Rush via Affiliate Programmes.

What are you doing? Wondering "Where do I find such products?" Well, there are many sources of 'product finders', but you can do a lot worse than look at what Affiliate Programmes there are on Clickbank - some 10,600 products and sites!

But (and yes, I know you should never begin a sentence with a preposition) investigate thoroughly those programmes you think will make you money. Look for a programme that pays at least 50% commission and if you find one with a two-tier commission structure, well, that's great because it means that you'll get commission on sales made by affiliates that you introduce.

So, what are you looking for when you investigate? Look and see how many affiliates each company has. Don't be put off by the fact that there are a lot. Its good. It means the product/s sell well. How much commission is paid out to affiliates? If you've got a Google toolbar (and if you haven't, go to Google and download one - they're free) you can find out a lot about companies by entering their name in the search box., and this will throw up a lot of information including how many backward links there are to that company. Important? I should think so, because search engines like backward links for high ranking.

Proper investigation will take a little time, but you'll find out a lot about these companies. Can you see yourself making money with a product AFTER you've investigated the company. Is the product something people want - not need!

There is no doubt in my mind that Affiliate Programmes is the way to make considerable money on the net, multi income streams from 5/6 Affiliate Progs. Not just one cheque a month, but several.

Nevertheless, you can't just become an Affiliate and expect the money to roll in. If that's your thinking - get another job! But if you are prepared to put in the right effort and look to the future with confidence and determination, you'll win.
Thomas Edison said - "What you are will show in what you do"

Advertising your programmes is easy, but that's the subject of another article - "Don't Pay for Advertising". Finally, let me urge you here NOT to use FFAs, Safe lists and the like. They never worked for me and they won't for you.

Note what I've said. These thoughts and pointers will take you where you want to go.

Tony Bryan.

Affiliate Programs Multiply Your Sales

By: Glenn McDonald

What could be better than exceeding your personal sales goals for a given month or year? How about doubling, tripling or even more of you sales goal for the month? This is exactly what affiliates can do for you. The amount of growth potential through affiliates is unlimited; the more affiliates you have the more money you can make, after all, if Sam Walton tried to run every Wal-Mart store, he obviously wouldn't be very successful. You must realize that for maximum growth you cannot do it alone. Think of the success of companies such as Avon or Home Interiors. Their success is based on two things; a great product and excellent affiliate programs.

To attract affiliates to your company you should make it worth their time. Offering one percent of sales, is not an attractive offer, the higher the commission that you are able to offer your affiliates the more affiliates will be tempted to join your team. You should also provide your affiliates with the tools that they will need to successfully market your product such as banner ads, articles, and anything else that will help them to better market the product. You should provide the affiliates with updated product information through newsletters, new promotional campaigns and other things to motivate and inform the affiliates.

You can choose to run your affiliate program in a few different ways, both of which are beneficial to your business. A one-tier affiliate program allows you to generally offer a larger commission and pays on one level. The affiliate will receive a predetermined amount for each sale. Using a two-tier affiliate program, affiliates are paid on two different levels. This is done by allowing the affiliates to recruit others to sell under them. In this situation, the top level affiliate would receive a slightly larger commission than the recruit or second level affiliate. For example if the top level seller makes 20% of the sale, then she/he would make 15% giving the second level affiliate the 5%.

Setting up the affiliate program can also be done in two different ways. One way is to do it yourself through an affiliate tracking software. This software will provide you with a way to track affiliate sales as well as allow the affiliates to view their progress. The downside to this option is that you are responsible for making payments. You can also choose to hire an affiliate tracking company to do all the work for you. These companies will allow the use of credit cards and completely run the affiliate program from billing customers, paying affiliates, and also pay you. This is a great option for the busy business owner or the beginning business owner and it is affordable as most affiliate tracking companies charge a small one time fee. However you choose to run your affiliate program it is sure to increase profits for your business.

Promoting Your Affiliate Products

By: Mal Keenan

Once you have your affiliate link, you're ready to go!

All you have to do, as we've discussed earlier, is to pre-sell your affiliate's products by marketing the same through your affiliate link. An affiliate link leads the would-be buyer to the affiliate merchant's payment processing page. Once you have managed to do that, your job is done, and the affiliate merchant will take care of the rest. This system makes affiliate marketing a very convenient home based business for anyone!

Pre-selling, however, should be carried out through effective marketing strategies to make this venture really profitable for you. These marketing strategies should be able to ensure a high conversion rate, or the power to convert the people who would be exposed to your affiliate link into successful sales.

Here are some of the more popular types of marketing campaigns being used as promotional tools in this home based business:

  • Promoting your affiliate links through viral marketing. Viral marketing is a very powerful strategy that would rapidly expose your business message, or your affiliate links in this case, in just a short period of time. Viral marketing tools usually involve eBooks, special reports and other information products. We will discuss this effective promotional tactic for your home based business in the succeeding lesson.

  • Marketing your affiliate links through forums. As we've discussed in a previous articles, promotion in online communities is an affordable and efficient way in spreading the word about your products or website, including your affiliate links. You could try to be active in these forums, befriend other members if you have to, and before you know it, you'll have more traffic for your site and more referrals that could rake in some good commissions for your home based business.

  • Article marketing. As we've likewise discussed in a prior article, writing articles and submitting them in various venues, with your resource box firmly attached at the end of each piece, is a magnificent way of promotions. People would scour the Internet for information, and if you write something about what they're looking for, you'll win their favor and expose your affiliate links to them aswel. This could only redound to the benefit of your home based business.

  • Search engine optimization. As we've mentioned earlier in these lessons, having your own website would help a lot in marketing your affiliate links. If your website carries your affiliate links, you could always optimize the same for the search engines and drive a humongous amount of traffic to your pages. Every visitor you'll have would always carry with him the chance of clicking on your affiliate links.

  • Create your own mailing list. With a mailing list in place for your home business, you won't have to lose any visitors. You could always "capture" them, warm them up for an offer later on, or present to them new packages that they might be interested with in the future. Most successful affiliates make a killing with their mailing lists alone! We will discuss this in detail in one of the the forthcoming lessons.
These are but some of the ways by which you could market your affiliate links. If done well, they could assure for you a very successful business that can be easy to sustain as well.

How Sneaky Links Increase Your Click-Throughs

By: Ron Hutton
If you find that your site visitors have developed a high level of resistance to clicking through your affiliate links, you're not alone. What is it that makes affiliate links suspicious to people? They're certainly not meant to be offensive.
I believe that it's the same kind of thing that automatically activates your defenses when you walk onto a used car lot and are promptly accosted by a guy wearing a green and orange plaid sports coat, pink neck tie and white patent leather lowtops that zip up the side.
Do you hate the feeling that someone is "selling you"? I really think that it's the same thing when visitors see what's obviously an affiliate link (or a poorly disguised affiliate link) and start looking for a way to buy "straight from the source" thinking that they're going to get a better deal!
If your website sells affiliate products, here's a simple "Sneaky Link" tactic that will help you with affiliatephobes.
Note: This article has a free corresponding step-by-step video tutorial that demonstrates the exact steps to creating your own "Sneaky Links"...www.gothrive.com/sneaky-link-video.htm
Street-smart webmasters and marketers understand the importance of taking every possible step to get visitors to let down their guard. We seek information but we resist being sold.
So, the following sample source code can be used on any web page to create "sneaky links" that don't have the appearance of affiliate links. You're not running a non-profit organization are you? No? Well, let's just let someone else believe that you are.
Here's an example of source code that will bare your soul to the world. Note: the tags are altered with a period that needs to be removed if you intend to edit and use this source code in your web pages.
No mysteries here:
<.a href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=100">Plug-In-Profit-Toolbox.com<./a>
Now, let's get sneaky. ;~)
<.a href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php? id=100" onMouseOver="window.status= 'http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/'; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status=''; return true; ">http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/<./a>
To assist in understanding how the "sneaky link" works, let's do a little link anatomy study. Here are the pieces and parts of our link:
Part 1, Beginning anchor tag: <.a
Part 2, Target URL (affiliate link): href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=100"
Part 3, "MouseOver" attribute: onMouseOver = "window.status='http: //www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/ '; return true; " onMouseOut="window.status=''; return true;"
Part 4, Link Text: http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/
Part 5, Ending anchor tag: <./a>
So, what's the trick? It's in part 3, the mouseover attribute. This nifty little piece of source code tells the web browser what to display in the status bar (very bottom of the browser window), and if the "window.status" is the same as the link text, it appears as though there's no trickery going on. But, we know better.
Is it possible that this link could be found out, discovered and revealed for what it really is? Sure. If someone were to apply a single right-click to the link, the web browser will reveal the actual target URL. However, the average user won't know this so the "sneaky link" tactic can be very effective in getting people to let their guard down.
End result... your click-through rate goes up, you make more sales and we all live happily ever after. Go forth and create some "sneaky links" now.
To view this article's free corresponding step-by-step video tutorial that demonstrates the exact steps to creating your own "Sneaky Links"...www.gothrive.com/sneaky-link-video.htm
There's a zip file available for you to download (no cost, of course) with the exact source code that's shown in the video.

How to Write Title Tags for Your Web Pages

By: Donald Nelson

When it comes to search engine optimization, the single most important sentence that you will write for your website is the title tag of your main page. If you write it properly then you will have taken a big step towards getting your site well placed in search engine queries for your important keywords.

Before I give you a step-by-step guide to writing title tags, let's define what they actually are and see why they are important. When you look at a web page in your browser, the writing in the blue strip above browser's commands (file, edit, view, etc.) is the title tag. On your actual html document the title tag is in the head portion between the notation <title> and </title> .

The title tag is important because it "tells" the search engine what the page is about, and in the case of your main page, what your website is all about. I remember back in my school days that we used to take standardized examinations in which we had to read a story and then answer the question: "What would be the best title for this essay?" Choosing a title tag is something like answering this kind of question. You've got to pick out the gist of your enterprise and highlight it in a sentence. So, take a look at your web page and get ready to begin, following these steps:

1.Make sure your three or four most important keywords or keyword phrases appear in the title tag. The most important words should appear near the beginning of the sentence, and they can be repeated within the sentence for added emphasis. For example, if I am offering low-cost web design, then my title tag might look like this: <title>Web Design: Affordable, Low Cost Web Design from the Acme Web Design Company</title>
2.Leave your branding and sales pitch for another part of the web page. Although it is a natural tendency to want to put your company name at the beginning of the title tag, you should remember that unless you are very famous like Coca Cola, people are not searching for you. So, put your most important keywords at the front of the title tag, and establish your brand name with your logo and other elements of the web page. If your company name includes your keywords, like our hypothetical Acme Web Design Company, then put it in the title tag, but not necessarily at the beginning.

Similarly, the title tag is no place for your sales pitch, so keep out flowery or extraneous adjectives, unless they are actual terms used in searches for your product or service.

3.Place your geographical or niche-defining term in your title tag. If you are trying for a top ten or top twenty position for a term such as "web design," then you are really in for a difficult struggle. However, suppose the Acme Web Design Company is located in Columbus, Ohio. Then instead of attempting the almost impossible task of getting the top rankings for the term "web design," it would be far better to get a high ranking in the geographical niche using a title tag such "Web Design, Columbus, Ohio: Low Cost Web Design in Columbus, Ohio by The Acme Web Design Company"
4.The title tag can be longer than you think. Some guidelines say that the title tag should be no longer than 70 characters. It is true that only the first 70 characters will show in the top bar of the browser, but search engine robots will read the rest of the tag and the search engines will not penalize you for going over the 70 character mark. Take a look at highly ranked sites in heavily competitive categories and you will see examples of long title tags. Write the tag according to your need to get your important words and phrases included in a sentence that best describes what your product or service is about.
5.Vary the title tags on the inner pages of your website. Even with a long title tag, it is not possible to highlight all the possible terms which someone might use to find your website. This is not a problem if you make use of the other pages of your website. Instead of simply having a title tag that says "services" our web design firm could highlight "low cost, web design services" on that page. The "contact" page could be used to emphasize the geographical location once again, and so on. Many websites make the mistake of repeating the same title tag on each of the inner pages of the site. Avoid this and use each of your page's titles to target important keywords and keyword phrases.

So, take a look at your website's title tags, and see if you can improve them. The effort that you make will be well rewarded.

Paid Directory Submission Checklist

By: Lakhya Phukan

Every online business needs traffic, which comes with increased visibility on the web. One great way to get noticed is to get listed in the major directories. Links from good directories increases your site's visibility many fold.

There are thousands of web directories on the net and selecting the good ones to submit your site can be a time consuming task. Also there are free directories and paid directories. You need to submit to both types of directories.

The following checklist is for paid directory submission only. This checklist will help you choose the best and worthwhile paid directories on the net.

Submission Check List:

  1. Check out if the directory is indexed in major search engines.

  2. Check the robots.txt file. Make sure that search engine bots are allowed to crawl the pages where you intend to put your listing. Check the Meta tags to make sure that search engine spiders are not prevented from following links in it. A Meta tag with noindex/nofollow will not be indexed or spidered and links in that page are not followed by bots.

  3. Check if the directory is being maintained regularly. Visit the directory from time to time to see if errors are getting corrected, site information is getting updated and the like. In short, look for positive activity on the directory.

  4. Check if the listings in category pages match in theme and content or not. Directories with tight focus on relevant grouping of web sites are useful for visitors and tend to show up frequently in SERPs for keyword searches.

  5. Check out the age of the directory. Do a whois search (http://www.whois.net) to get this information. Many new directories vanish after a few months due to lack of maintenance and promotion. With older directories you can at least be sure that your listing will remain visible for a reasonable period.

  6. Check if the directory consists of too many empty categories - it is not useful for visitors and also does not send a too good signal to the SEs about the directory. Think twice before submitting to such directories.

  7. Check if the contact information is available on the site. Proper businesses will provide you with some kind of contact information.

  8. Check the Alexa rank of the directory - it is not accurate, yet you can get an idea of traffic the directory receives. Look for directories with decreasing Alexa Rank as it indicates that the directory is getting popular.

  9. Check if the directory provides SE friendly urls. No JavaScript link or redirection. Also watch out for dynamic urls. Sometimes search engines find it difficult indexing or recognizing dynamic urls with parameters like http://www.&;lt;examplesite>.com/index.html?cat=1&p=12...
An example of SE friendly URL is http://www.hedir.com/business.html

  10. Check whether category pages have too many outgoing links. If your link is one of 100 links on a page, visitors will find it difficult to locate your site.

Increase Your Leads with Search Engine and Lead Optimization Strategies

By: Tim OKeefe

The most optimal way for an online Real Estate agent to succeed is thru rapid lead generation and follow up. And in order to escalate your leads, you must start off with an acceptance of your current traffic and lead conversion ratio.

Ask yourself "How many visitors does it take to get to a lead?"

In fact, when we initially interview a potential client often times the conversion is close to a dismal 200:1. Depending on design features, you should really get at the most 50:1. And probably 30:1 is more like it.

Conversion comes from on page conversion optimization & Keyword representation.

On Page Factors

Most people have heard of Search Engine Optimization. Few talk about on page conversion optimization.

First of all, this whole concept pre-supposes that you are starting off with a most wanted action (MWA). Sometimes your MWA is Branding, sometimes it is Leads. And many times it is both lead capture and branding that you are asking your website to do.

If Leads are your goal then your call to action is critical. Other features on your page can distract the viewer from your objectives.

On Page factors that may increase or decrease conversion are:

Asking them to sign up (making your call to action clear)
A Johnson Box (these are those tabled boxes that break up your body copy)
Color can attract or distract
Too many buttons
Animation
Offer Placement. Where are you placing your call to action?
Variety of Call to Action
Frequency of your call to action
These are just a few of the attributes that may help your lead count to go way up.

HappyVille Real Estate

There is a reason that studies have found that Pay per Click search engine results often render poor conversion rates. Specificity.

The reason is that you can only use high volume keywords with pay per click (PPC). These high volume keywords are by their nature generalized. They are also the most profitable for the engine. But what may profit the engine does not always profit you. (Thats not to say that PPC doesn't have its place in a search marketing campaign)

9 times out 10, I am asked to "make my site #1 for "My City real estate". While this is a worthy objective, it is at best very short sighted. Words like "City real estate", "city homes", city condos", are all high volume in just about any city you research.

However, a successful marketing campaign must employ search engine click thrus that are made up of general & specific "streams of traffic". This is because traffic is a comprehensive endeavor. You wouldn't just rent out 1 or 2 of your penthouse units and leave the rest of your 150 unit apartment complex empty? You couldn't expect profitability would you?

However, this is exactly what most agents do when they go after a few high volume words.

Traffic is made up of the combined visits that come from various inquiries into a search engine.
Each inquiry represents a finite amount of possible traffic determined by the placement in the engine, for a particular keyword phrase.

So long story short, a few keywords aren't going to make your business. You need a Universe of words in order to get monster traffic and lead conversion.

Additionally, not all keywords or traffic are created equal. Step out of real estate monetarily and imagine yourself as Jeff Bezos at Amazon.com. What would delite you more?

500 visitors that typed in "Books"? Or 500 visitors that typed in "Harry Potter"? Or better yet, "Harry Potter, Sorcerors Stone"? The more specific you get, conversion goes up and the closer you can get to that elusive 1:1 conversion.

The challenge however, is that the more specific you get with our keywords, the less traffic you get. So you need to represent a large amount of these specific keywords that produce low traffic by themselves. But combined, create a large stream of very convertable traffic.

By optimizing your on page factors and your keywords that drive people to your site, you will take your visitor to conversion ratio down to a respectable number.
