You shouldn’t listen to millionaires?

If you want to build a successful business online, you probably shouldn’t listen to people who have made millions online. At the very least, you need to be very careful about their advice.

Very few exceptions. We’ll get to that.

You see...

Most of the people who are already successful might even have your best interests at heart. Call me naive, but I believe people are inherently good and want to help each other out. If it also coincides with their self-interest, even better.

The problem, however, is that, for the most part, people who are already successful are far removed from the struggles you are experiencing in your journey.

They don’t need to get something going in the next few weeks or they’re gonna starve.

They don’t need to focus on getting their first sale, getting the first lead on their list, and things like that.

They, for the most part, don’t remember what it’s like to start completely from scratch, with no connections, no list, and not a whole ton of money to play with.

Which is why I’m always more interested in how someone made their first sale. Their first 3 sales. Or their first 10 sales.

Like this lady:

The best part is that while she has only made a handful sales so far online...

  • She did it in a surprisingly short amount of time - it took her just weeks to go from no list and no industry connections to making $1,000+ sales
  • She smartly outsourced the hard parts of the system (and not to just anybody with a Fiverr or Upwork account, but to people who routinely sell millions of dollars worth of products in affiliate promotions) - and she did it at a price that will make your head spin
  • Most importantly, she did it with future scalability in mind - meaning, the next time she decides she wants to make some money, she won’t have to start from scratch!

Here’s the twist.

In order to be able to do that, she did take advice from people who have already made 8 figures online. Which kind of goes against what I said at the beginning.

So what gives, you might ask?

It’s not the advice that she benefited from the most. Yes, it was valuable, and the people who worked with her were among the ones who totally get what it’s like to start over (having themselves done it in the past).

It’s the fact that they did most of the work for her… just like they will for you.

They’re blaming you for your failures?

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of the “hustle culture”.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for taking charge of your destiny, working hard to achieve your dreams, and putting in some elbow grease when needed.

But the “hustle culture” is ridiculous with its endless victim-blaming. Basically, whenever you fail with any of their mostly hare-brained schemes to make a quick buck online, it’s your fault, according to them.

“You didn’t take action!”

“You should’ve 10x’d your efforts, bro!”

“What did you expect, you got a whole 8 hours of sleep every night instead of working on your business!”

You know what’s even more ridiculous?

Most of them know you’ve been set up to fail.

It’s the worst best-kept-secret in the whole industry.

The truth is if you’re starting out from scratch - and even if you’re reasonably experienced - it’s not possible for you to set up a successful money-getting system online in a week or even a month, period.

It’s like… even if you are reasonably skilled at throwing the ball around, you have no business playing quarterback in an NFL game.

Hustle or not, you’re going to get crushed.

It’s no coincidence that I pick the super-competitive world of professional football as an example. Online money-getting these days is pretty much just as competitive.

So what do you do instead?

Up until this point, there was very little you could do.

One option was you just power through. You master one skill after another, until ultimately, you succeed… often, years later.

Another… well, you just give up.

But now, there’s a third option - all neatly explained in this short video here.

Watch it here

It’s by someone very much like you - not from some slick internet marketer who makes their living selling courses to you. This person makes money online doing exactly what they teach.

Rare.

And it’s a claim those “hustlers” will never be able to match.

Because they’re ridiculous and they just don’t get it.

You don’t need to spend every waking hour working on something to succeed… if you do the smart play outlined here:

The problem with every money-getting approach

The shortest article ever published in the New York Times consisted of one word.

The title was a bit longer: ““When I’m Mistakenly Put on an Email Chain, Should I Hit ‘Reply All’ Asking to Be Removed?”

The article itself: “No.”

It’s funny because it really is that simple.

But… there’s a reason why all articles aren’t short and to the point like that.

It’s because most things are not that clear cut and simple. There’s nuance.

Take affiliate marketing.

If you asked me to write a one word article titled…

“Should I Do Affiliate Marketing If I Want To Build An Income Stream Online Without Working Myself To The Bone?”

My article, of course, would go “Yes.”

But that would not be enough.

Not if I really want to help you succeed.

You see, there’s a lot of nuance to affiliate marketing if you really want to make money with it.

It gets even more complicated if you don’t have 6 months to wait for money to start rolling in, because you quite enjoy having a roof over your head, food on the table, and electricity that lights your abode.

You see…

The problem with nuance is it takes a lot of time to understand.

Could you master building sales webinars for affiliate promotions? Yes… but it would take you 10,000 hours to get really good at it.

Could you also perfect the art of building funnels that seamlessly take someone you’ve never met from “vaguely interested” to “yes, I’m sold!”? Yes… but it would take you another 10,000 hours.

I also have no doubt that, given the time, you’d also be able to master traffic-getting, list building, relationship-building… and everything else necessary to make money with affiliate promotions.

However…

It will, realistically, take you years to get good at this.

Here’s what I do instead:

Find out here

I rely on others with a proven track record to do things for me.

If you don’t have all the time in the world to see results…

If your interest in generating income online isn’t driven by just curiosity - but by a need…

If you want to leverage the insane firepower of some of the top affiliates in the world...

How you can become a better communicator

Why it’s so important to write down your goals

In the age of digital this & online that, writing - with a pen (or pencil) on some paper - seems to be a forgotten act.

But the mere act of writing down your plans gives them form in the physical world. Although the form is only 2 dimensional potential, it acts as a lightning rod for all of the kinetic energies required to make it a reality. If this sounds too mystical or esoteric for you, I’ll present this idea to you in a more practical manner.

I have a whiteboard in my den. While I’m working on one project, I often have lots of ideas for things to do in the future. I also remember deadlines that I have to reach in the present.

It’s much easier to write those ideas down on the whiteboard rather than try to remember later or stop working now. If I tried to do that, I’d lose the energy that I’m putting into whatever I’m working on. As long as I later revisit the notes I took, then I’ve captured lightning and I can make it available for later use.

Writing also frees up mental space.

Speaking of “catching lightning”, this highlights another reason why you should write.

The average person forgets many more ideas than they ever remember. If the ideas are forgotten, then this means that they can’t be acted upon. By writing the ideas down, these flashes of insight and reflection are captured for later use.

Many of us have had that nagging experience of forgetting something that felt important at the time, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to remember when we needed it for later use. Well, when you get the habit of writing things down, you improve your ability to retain ideas–even the ones that you don’t write down. This will happen naturally, if for no other reason than you’re starting to free up mental space by writing other things down.

There are more good reasons why you should write - I'll be exploring these in future mails.

You might not like the answer to this...

If you’ve struggled with figuring out what exactly it is you should be doing online to get some money rolling in… know you’re not alone. I can’t begin to tell you how many days, nights, and afternoon car rides I’ve spent thinking about stuff like…

Should I sell physical products on Amazon - or should it be Etsy or my own Shopify store? Should I dropship or should I source my own products from somewhere?

Or perhaps my fortune will be made creating information products? If that’s the case, should I go with something I’m good at or something that I know there’s demand for?

Perhaps my fortune will be made in providing services to other people? If I go that route, what’s the service I should provide, how much should I charge, and how do I find clients?

And so on and so forth.

I have an answer for you. You might not expect it or even like it, but it’s the truth.

Are you ready?

Here it is.

All of the above.

You see, in this day and age, especially if you’re building your legacy through an online business, it’s all interconnected - physical products feed digital ones, information products feed physical products, there’s services, there’s teaching, and so on and so forth.

I don’t know if you remember the Dollar Shave Club, but it went from an interesting startup, selling simple stuff from razorblades to grooming products (physical products!) with quirky ads (information marketing!), to being bought by Unilever for a reported $1 billion in cash. Oh, and they offered a service, too - a delivery of full-size products of your choice a few times per year.

So am I saying that you should master physical products, information products, conversions, marketing, services, traffic, etc. all on your own? Not really… it would be pretty impossible.

There are going to be a few things which you’re better at than the rest… things that come easier for you than they do for most people. That’s where you focus your efforts. And find ways to get the rest done by outsourcing or partnering.
