People who do this will have an Advantage

Name the most unfair advantage you can think of. 


Most people will go with “the country you’re born in”, “being royalty”, “born smart and good looking”, things like that.


They’re not wrong. However let’s put on our marketing glasses and see what’s going on beneath the surface.


What do all of these (and most of the ones I didn’t name too) have in common?


They let you belong to a certain group of people who enjoy an advantage not necessarily on merit… but simply because they belong to that group.

Now let’s look at another layer this works in.


You’ll often hear that there are two types of people in any gold rush. The ones digging for gold… and the ones selling the shovels.


We’ve all been conditioned to think that the ones who get rich are the ones selling the shovels. 


That’s not necessarily false… all things being equal, the chance of someone succeeding while selling shovels is indeed higher. 


However, for whatever reason, most people think with disdain of the shovel sellers. The idea is that 


“that’s not real work.” 


Well, excuse me…


… but in what world is finding enough quality shovels to sell, making sure you have them delivered to let’s say California in 1849 (a year when the big Gold Rush happened there), setting up a store, and protecting yourself, your family and your shovels from drunk miners and panhandlers NOT real work?


Here’s another problem with this argument.


It’s been overexploited by every Tom, Dick, and Harry who want to sell you a course on how to make money. 


“Oh, you’re going to learn how to sell the shovels instead of digging for gold!”


What they conveniently forget to mention is that you are also expected to manufacture, test, and deliver your shovels, too. 


Which, frankly…


Most people aren’t equipped to do.


Here’s my point.


You should, indeed, be selling shovels.


But 1) forget about the disdain. It is real work which, if done right, will help a lot of people find financial peace of mind, fulfill their dreams and take care of their families… and 2) just sell someone else’s shovels. 


Find someone who makes quality shovels, delivers them on your behalf, and takes care of the miners for you.

There are not just people who dig for gold and people who sell shovels.


There are also people who completely misunderstand what’s in front of them… and miss the opportunity. Which is probably the worst thing you can do.
